Our Story
Milky Way Farms is a 4th generation family farm located in the beautiful Endless Mountains Region of Pennsylvania, between the towns of Troy & Canton. We are a grass-based dairy farm that uses sustainable and pesticide-free methods. The farm was started by Lewis and Marie Seeley, and still family owned and operated today. In 1962, we added an on farm retail store and bottling plant, which allowed us to add value to our existing dairy farm while also giving us the opportunity to sell milk & dairy products directly to the local community. We offer a full line of pasteurized milk products, along with butter, grass-fed beef, pastured pork, and more! |
The Animals
Our cows are a hardy mix of several breeds, including Lineback, Dutch Belt, Jersey, Holstein, Brown Swiss, Ayrshire, and Shorthorn. Currently, our milking herd is 60 cows strong. During the grazing season our cows are rotated through our pastures twice a day, ensuring a healthy diet of fresh Omega-3-rich grass. When the grazing season ends, dairy cows are fed unsprayed hay and some certified organic grain.
In recent years we have also expanded to raising a small amount of pastured pigs each year. Their diet usually consists of more than a good amount of milk and cream! Pastured pork and grass-fed beef is sold frozen at our retail store. |
The Family
The farm was formed by Lewis & Marie Seeley, and is currently owned and operated by their son Kim and wife Ann. Three generations of the family are actively involved in running the Milky Way, whether it's in the barn, managing workers at the Milky Way storefront, or bottling milk twice a week.
The Seeleys firmly believe in running an operation that produces healthy and sustainably raised products for their community. Thank you for taking some time to get to know us!
